Maverick Trigger Group....

About 10 years ago, I came into possession of a Maverick slug gun, used, no idea of age.  I knew from the start that there was a problem with it, that at least 50% of the time the hammer would fall with the slide closing and it would not lock.  I've figured that to save some money, I'd just get another TG.  Well, I've found one online for about $35.  Question is this....Mossberg has a 'new' and 'old' TG for the 500.  Does the Maverick 88 have the same 'old' and 'new'?  If so, I'd have no idea which one I need, nor can I find out (so far) which one is in the online add.  Any help guys?
