Just wondering here......... what is the length of the barrel? Magnum rifles usually have longer barrels than standard cals. Action length is only one factor in oal. If you end up replacing this with a ..... even long action cal(  06 case based) you still may end up with a rifle that is no longer/heavier. A 308 case based cal like 243, 7mm-08 or 308 itself may even be shorter/ lighter than the short mag gun. Just a thought.

The weight don't really bother me. It's just that most of the hype on the WSM rounds are about the short action making a lighter gun, and the 150-200 fps increase in speed.

With the same model rifle in a long action, I don't think I'd notice the weight difference or the difference in the round (270WSM vs 270WIN for instance).

I been doing too much dang readin' I think. Cheesy Cheesy

I think you are right kb, 'specially since the others can be included over time saving even more $$$, and to be able to shoot more.

Gotta warn ya guys tho. I never loaded brass, only plastic, so be forewarned of the monster you all might have created.
Monsters are dumb, so be ready to be inundated with goofy questions that you probably knew the answer to years ago.
